FAQs

Can The Dream Machine Workshop dispose of my waste?

Yes we can! General waste bins are provided within the workshop. Tyres are charged at £3 per tyre for cars and bikes. Disposal of waste oil is charged at £5 for a bike, £7.50 for a car and £10 for anything bigger. All metals are recycled. Please let us know what you'd like disposing of, and settle the charges at the end of your workshop time.

Do you offer discounted rate packages?

Yes, we have a monthly subscription which is desgined to help you keep the costs of a big project down. See here

What machines and tools can I use in my workshop time?

This depends on the Tier level you've booked in on. We have a simple symbol system to idenify what machines are avaible at each Tier. See Here.

What happens if I run over on my workshop time?

We've arranged the bookings system with inevitable mechanical mishaps in mind (for example, a stud breaks or a nut rounds off, meaning your 3 hour job ends up taking 4)! This means there will always be space for you to finish, and you just pay for the extra time you've taken at the usual hourly rate. If this happens, come and have a chat about options - especially if we're coming to the end of the day. For all workshop time sessions, there will be time before to get you into the work space, and time after for you to clear down. See here for full terms, conditions and fair use policy.

How do I know what Tier level I'm at?

We'll help assess this. Come see us - book a workshop tour, or get in contact. If you have a relevant qualification, we can accept that - just bring details on your workshop tour.

Can I store my project when I'm not working on it?

You sure can. Talk to us about this when you're at the workshop, or through the contact form. We have a limited amount of space, so it'll be on a first come first served basis. Storage space is charged at a flat day rate, but based on the size you need, (a bus will cost more that a bike). If you've got workshop time booked for the next day then overnight storage is free of charge.

What if I need to cancel my place on a course, or workshop time?

We know plans change and life sometimes gets in the way. You can cancel any of your bookings with us for a full refund as long as it's 48 hours or more before. Bookings cancelled less than 48 hours before they're due incur a charge. See here for full details.

Is it only vehicles that I can work on?

Nope! You come and work on whatever you want, my friend. We welcome all. Please contact us if its BIG - just so we can make sure it fits in the workshop.....

Do I have to have a ramp space to use the workshop time?

If you want a ramp for a car or bike, then select your preferred ramp option when booking. If you just want a bit of workshop space to use the tools, it's "Maker Space" in the booking system.

What about insurance?

Very important! We have public liability insurance, in case of unforseen accidents. Additionally, and to help keep everyone safe, when booking, you'll be required to accept that you are responsible for your own safety, and not causing a hazard to others. Workshop tours are there partly to help make sure you know your responsibilities, and all the safety procedures in place, so we can minimise the risks of being in a workshop environment.

Is there a limit to the amount of people per workspace?

Yes, only 2 bodies per ramp please. But if you and a mate want to share the workshop time, go for it! There's no limit on how many things you can work on in your workshop time - once the space is booked it's yours to use.

What if I need a nut, bolt, piece of wire / hose etc?

No problem! We have a stock of small items including nuts, bolts, washers, electrical wire, terminal crimps, relays, coolant hose, fuel pipe...all sorts. However we can't guarantee we'll have the exact thing you need, so please come with the parts you think you'll need wherever possible. Also we might not be the cheapest to buy from, but we may just have the little bit or bob you need to finish on time.

Help, I'm stuck!! Can you help?

Yes, we're always happy to give you a steer within your time with us; to hold or mark something for you, and provide another pair of hands if needed. If you get into something a bit out of your depth, we can help here too. If it takes you beyond your booked workshop time, help is charged at £40 per hour flat rate (and provided on a first come, first served basis). This should help get you over a particular stumbling block, so you can carry on in your next appointment.
