Intro to the Lathe

This is the place if you are new to metal turning. If you’ve never ventured near a lathe but always wanted to give it ago then this is the Class for you. We'll start with a short Health and safely briefing, then move on to how to switch it on and engage the drive. Then how to chuck the workpiece, and select the right tool for the job. Install the tool on the machine. How to choose spindle RPM's and decide on cutting depths and feed rate. Then make some swarf!! Learn how to read the size readouts so we can turn the workpiece down to size. Then move on to drilling holes, boring them out to finished size.
